Old Kingdom Placemarks:
The Old Kingdom in Egypt (2686-2160 BC) started with the 3rd Dynasty (Pharaoh Nebka) and lasted until the end of the 8th dynasty.
This is the time we now refer to as the "Time of the Pyramid builders".
Egypt was a stable, prosperous country during much of the Old Kingdom, and the concept of the Pharaoh as maybe not a God in himself but as closely related to the gods and ideas regarding the afterlife, religious concepts about Osiris and the rise of the Sun-God Ra to "State-God" all took place during this period. All these concepts took form in gigantic stone buildings meant for eternity. Both Pyramids and during the 5th dynasty "Sun-Temples" were build in this period.
At the end of the 6th dynasty Egypt's unity and central state slowly disappeared. The 7th and 8th dynasty were a group of Kings who reigned only very shortly, and only one of them (Qakara Iby) left a small pyramid behind at South Saqqara. Though it is believed that maybe in time other small pyramids belonging to Kings of the 7th and 8th dynasty may be found at South Saqqara near the one that belonged to King Iby.
The unfinished pyramids that probably belong to Pharaoh Nebka and Pharaoh Khaba can be found in the region to the west of Zawiyet el-Aryan. This place is now a military complex and I can't exactly find the remains of these pyramids through Google Earth, but I did add a placemark to the place where they can be found.
I have grouped the placemarks in the order of each Pharaoh from each dynasty:
